Training Boxers in the Water
By Terry Nelson, Certified Aquatic Trainer.

Boxing is a high-impact sport to say the least, so it is easy to imagine how low-impact training can be beneficial to boxers. By using DeltaBells™, Terry Nelson explains how boxers can "drop" a nagging injury as well as strengthen their wrists. Even if you have never stepped in the ring before, you can strengthen your upper body and reduce mental stress by punching with Deltabells™.

    Steps to Drop Stress

Micheal Framberger How serious is stress? A recent report by WebMD found that seventy-five to 90% of all doctor's office visits are for stress-related ailments and complaints.

The study also determined that stress is linked to six of the leading causes of death: heart disease, cancer, lung ailments, accidents, cirrhosis of the liver, and suicide.

Being immersed in water creates a physical and mental response that helps melt stress away.
    • Lower water temperature cools the body
    • Water massages tense muscles like the neck, back and shoulders
    • Aquatic sessions allow one time to think through stressful problems
    • Water exercise releases endorphins- brain chemicals that stimulate pleasure and reduce pain
    • Heart rates during water exercise are 12 to 15 beats lower than land exercise

For this month's installment of the "Drop it in 6" newsletter, we have consulted an expert on combating stress, Michael G. Framberger, author and creator of the Get Happy, Get Healthy, Be Wealthy system. In the following excerpt from his Home Study Seminar, Framberger details how we can drop stress with positive physical changes.

How we take care of our body or fail to take care of it directly contributes to stress. A fit, dynamic, healthy body has a wealth of resources for shrugging off stress. By contrast, a body that is fed junk food, never exercised, and lacks adequate sleep will be much more vulnerable to stress, illness, anxiety, and pain.

By actively taking steps to improve your health and eat right, you can dramatically reduce the amount of stress you experience. In a healthy body, stressful incidents will simply not have the same impact. A few dietary changes can help reduce stress. If you aren't already doing these things, incorporate them into your lifestyle one by one. Your body will thank you.
    1. Eat every three to four hours.
    2. Include more fruits and vegetables.
    3. Eliminate trans and saturated fats.
    4. Increase good fats, such as fish oils.
    5. Avoid sugar and preservatives.
    6. Drink eight glasses of water a day.
    7. Get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day--
AquaJogging is especially great for relieving stress.
