Stick to Your New Year's Resolution with the Formula of "21"
By:Juliana Larson
Keep On Keeping On!
Like millions of others have resolved this New Year, you may have started a new aerobic activity to fight the battle of the bulge.
However, the problem so many people have with a new exercise program is sticking with it.
By the time Groundhog's Day rolls around, many exercise programs have been abandoned.
The challenge is to keep on moving, to keep doing it.
A water fitness program is one of the most beneficial, fun, and overall rewarding aerobic workout programs offered today in fitness.
By starting it and staying with it , you will soon discover how you can enhance all aspects of your life, from the physical, to the mental and to the spiritual.
The Formula of 21: 3 times a week for 7 Weeks = New Habit
Just give it 21 days of consistent effort: I guarantee you will see a dramatic difference in your life. The less you have done in the past, the more dramatic the results. You will feel more flexible, your sleep will improve and you will start to notice you have more energy for your day to day activities.
After twenty one times ( 3 X wk for 7 weeks) it will be come a habit. It is a proven statistic that to create a good habit or start up a bad habit, It only takes 21 times of repetition.
Why it works: Your muscles have a memory and they will remind your brain that they really enjoyed the workouts you are providing and your brain will encourage you, "Get back with the program! We missed our workout today! Go to the Pool."
The nice thing is that most people who have attended my water fitness classes over the years, feel so invigorated and just generally better, that they do not feel right even if they miss a day or two. Besides, the friends they have made in class would miss them.
The trick is to stay with it long enough to the point where the physical effort meets the mental and emotional calmness and spiritual alertness. When the Zen oneness of mind, body and soul connection occurs, it is then that you no longer view your water workouts as merely a duty to burn calories before moving on to the next item on your list of things to do.
Take Control: Yes, it takes discipline and self-control when it comes to bettering yourself. But when it is something that you can learn to enjoy and can see how it affects areas outside of the pool, you will find it much easier to pursue regularly.
In this new year, make a difference in your life. You must take these steps one step at a time.
The first step for anyone occurs when you have made a very specific goal.
Find a pool, get your equipment and join a class or find a private coach.
Better yet, do this with your partner or a best friend. That will square your chances of success!
Good luck and keep in touch with us about your effort, successes and challenges.
