Water Exercise takes a Vacation
By Guest Instructor: Barb Batson
Everyone needs a vacation, and what better way to enjoy your break from the ho-hum routine than to
take vacation where you can enjoy your water workout.
So many times a vacation includes not only a break from your home but also from the exercise
routine which has become an important part of your life, assuring your well being and giving you the stamina to do all you want to do.
To avoid being a fitness backslider, be certain to take your water workout with you.
Whether you travel for business or pleasure; you won’t regret it.
First take a look at your exercise routine and find a way to include it when you get away. When you make your
reservations, a little checking on your part can assure there is a pool available to you. If your vacation residence does not
have a pool, you can always find a pool nearby at SwimmersGuide.com.
YMCA's, Health Clubs, and Jewish Community Centers often offer reciprocal benefits for traveling
members, so check with your facility to see if they have a partnership in the area where your travels take you so you can continue
your water exercise routine.
Details of pool depth and aquatic exercise schedules will be helpful as you plan for success. Check to
see that your equipment of choice is available or take your favorites with you. Determine the services offered in regard to locker room
keys, towels, and shower supplies. If you will be using an outdoor pool, protect yourself with sunscreen, tinted eyewear and a hat.
Another option for a fun and fit vacation is to choose a vacation specifically with an exercise focus.
For example, there are many cruises, spas, and resorts throughout the world that are geared for exercise and fitness.
The ideal may be for you to combine sightseeing with your fitness routine, and for that I recommend you check
the web site for Fun and Fitness Travel Club
www.fun-fitness.com. It is a dues free
organization specializing in hosted exercise cruises. Private water exercise classes are offered every morning in the ship’s pool
lead by certified water exercise instructors who host groups of eager water exercise enthusiasts. Since many ships pools are greater
than 5 feet deep, your buoyant, impact free routine should fit right in.
Now that you have found water exercise is your friend for life, why not take it on vacation with you – good times
are better when shared with a friend! Contact barbatson@earthlink.net or 800 500 8905 for
information about available fitness cruise opportunities TODAY. Bon Voyage is just a phone call away!

for senior, prenatal and special needs populations. She enjoys helping others keep the fun in function by hosting Fun & Fitness
cruises for those in her aqua classes and their friends along with acting as New Host Coordinator for Fun & Fitness Travel Club.
