I need to be in the water to rehabilitate my knees due to arthritis, so I started AquaJogging about 3 months ago. My doctor recommended water exercise as the only thing I could do. All other exercises are completely prohibited to me due to the impact they bring to my muscles and joints.
I have a fear of water and have never been taught how to swim properly. Due to the fact that I am overweight, I did not like the idea of getting into a swimsuit or exercising with a crowd of people. When my doctor recommended something that required all three of my fears I was obviously reluctant, but I had to do it for my health. Once I got over my fear of getting into the water, I was just amazed at how the water made me feel -- totally relaxed and stress free. I was able to work every muscle in my body without any pain whatsoever. This is something I have not been able to do for 10 years! I still do not know how to swim, and I work out in water that is 12 feet deep!
I can already feel the benefits. I am not intimidated to exercise in the water because in the pool, no one can see you in your swimsuit. I would probably be embarrassed doing these same exercises on land at the gym. The water is a comfortable and safe atmosphere where I can work out with an absolute lack of pain. Thanks to AquaJogger, I can work out 3 times per week, feel the benefits and see the results without any consequences to my health.
I've never had much self-control when at the dinner table, and my waist slowly grew over the years. So too did my hypertension, gout, and then low-level rhummatism and diabetes. I was becoming a medical disaster. My doctors were frantic... and my closet was full of clothes that no longer fit.
Then AquaJogger came to the rescue. Its flotation devices have kept my head above water, and my body busy with the exercise. With my Aquajogger securely belted around my waist, I haven't the slightest fear of the water and can concentrate instead on exercising properly.
I've been at the pool almost daily for the past year, and it shows. I've lost about fifty pounds -- almost enough to get me down to my natural weight -- and that has helped bring both my blood pressure and blood sugar levels down to more easily managed levels and the exercise has virtually banished the rhummatism pains. And happy, productive years have been added to my life...thanks to the deep water exercise that Aquajogger makes possible.
I was born with a congenital hip. I have had several corrective surgeries with the last one being seven years ago. I had some reconstruction done at that time. (I had been using a cane for two years prior to the surgery and could walk about a block before I would have to sit down.) I was told they did not know how long this procedure would last. I was told to exercise, which at that time meant just picking up my leg from the floor when lying down.
Eventually, I started water aerobics in October. One evening the following July I ran up the stairs to the locker room after class! I had done it without thinking. The climb up the stairs was usually a labored one for me. I get all misty when I think of that day because it was such a . . . blessing, and I am grateful to be walking!!
I got my AquaJogger and AquaRunners for Christmas 1998. I added the DeltaBells in the spring and followed with a video. I have been in water aerobics for 5 years now. At the time I write this, I am approaching a December 21st due date for my first child at the age of 37. I am in the best physical shape I have ever been in. I do not feel the pregnancy would have gone so well for me had I not been active in water. I feel great! The water is so freeing for me. I love what the AquaJogger has done for my water workout!
Carolyn Training
I have been using the AquaJogger Classic and Fit belts for the past six years, cross training in the deep water to both supplement my running workouts and to prevent injuries
With the deep water training, I have lowered my marathon PR by almost thirty minutes and significantly reduced my rate of injury, and I am now on my way to the Olympic trails to represent the US in the marathon.
David with Carl Lewis
Over the past ten years I have trained such athletes as
Carl Lewis and Leroy Burrell, athletes involved in high
stress training regimes. AquaJogging in deep water has aided
these athletes with their dry land training, enhancing the
active recovery process, allowing them to train longer,
while recovering quicker.
Working out in water for most people seems like something quite novel today,
however, along with the AquaJogger, we have been using water to train as well as rehabilitate athletes,
for well over 20 years.
Just recently I purchased an aquajogger from you folks and I have now been using it for 2 weeks and I have to tell you I'm SOOOO pleased that I bought it.
I had been a runner for 19 years and 4 years ago I had to switch to power walking due to an injury. This past summer I started running again and it's just not the same.
My pace is not there because of the impact factor.
The belt has given me another opition, and with better benefits.
